When a music deal is signed, it means a certain agreement has been reached by two or more parties. Though music contracts have a clause that allows an artist like Peruzzi to quit when he wants to, this may be the first of its kind in the music space in Nigeria.
The termination clause offers a party a way out of the agreement and there are legitimate ways to do that. One of the most arguable ways to break a music deal is to claim that the contract was signed under compulsion.
In the case of Peruzzi, (Tobechukwu Oko), and Golden Entertainment, the contract could have stated anything. However, people are focusing more on the contract than on the gains and losses for all three parties including Davido.
The ‘If’ singer is the middle of this, but he claims nothing like that has happened and that DMW hasn’t signed any deal with Peruzzi. However, whoever wins, a Twitter trial is usually the beginning of a life long bad music career for any singer. Everyone involved will have their reputation wrecked from this.
Peruzzi probably has more to gain from DMW but he still gets to pay the fine and maybe everyone can move on.
