Recently, African superheroes movies are featuring strong female lead characters who are very fun to watch. Some of the African Female superheroes to look forward to includes those created by Award-winning author Nnedi Okorafor.

We are really hoping to see these productions come to fruition soon. However, these are the upcoming female superheroes to look forward to:

‘Onyesonwu’

Another exciting Nnedi-project is the upcoming HBO series that will be based on her book ‘Fears of Death’. Nnedi will co-produce the series with George R.R Martin. The series is about ‘Onyesonwu’, who uses her shapeshifting ability and sorcery to combat evil. She fights against crimes carried out on women including rape and female genital mutilation.

‘Onyesonwu’ has a mixed personality. She is both impulsive and loving, loyal and brash. Being a female character, she also possesses the virtues and flaws of a real woman. With her extraordinary abilities, she will effect change in the world.

The characters that Nnedi is creating are complex females who must win as she explained. She also mixes things up with the experiences of contemporary women.

‘Mama K’s Team 4’

Zambian writer Malenga Mulendema created a series based on the life of African teenage girls. ‘Mama K’s Team 4’ will introduce to the world four strong African girls hired by an ex-agent to save the world.
