Stream Or Skip It, South African Series ‘Shadow’ Is Now On Netflix

African Movies and Series Shadow

Pallance Dladla plays Shedrach Khumalo aka Shadow in new Netflix African series

Since the last years, Netflix has been showing an interest in getting African movies, series and other related content out there. First, the streamer announced the acquisition of South Africa’s ‘Queen Sono’, which is now in production. After which they acquired Nollywood’s ‘Lionheart’. To add to that list of movies and series, Netflix is currently airing South African series ‘Shadow’. It was launched on 8 March 2019 and is also the first African series on the platform.

Why You Should Stream Shadow

Shadow was set in various colourful locations around Johannesburg but offers you a universal theme. It deals with societal threats and issues including drug abuse and human trafficking.

The series also examines the boundary between vengeance and justice as an ex taskforce agent quits his job due to the lack of service in the SAPS. He decides to take issues into his hands. His immunity to pain was as a result of a natural disaster, but this also makes him a superhero.

Amanda Du Pont plays Ashley, Shadow’s love interest

All eight episodes are each made with a fraction of a new genre but staying slightly connected to its original genre. The most impressive artwork was seen in the stunts the actors pulled. The production team also did a good job isolating certain elements to make Shadow different from other African movies and series.

‘Shadow’ stars Pallance Dladla who plays Shedrach Khumalo aka Shadow, and Amanda Du Pont, who stars as Ashley. It was directed by Gareth Crocker.
