In the coming months, we are expecting the arrival of Nigerian animated movie, Malika by YouNeek Studios. The trailer is already available for viewing and the warrior queen is now out to get the enemies of her empire.
Her ever-enlarging empire attracts her an ever-enlarging number of foes, within and outside the walls of the empire. The warrior queen has taken up the war fearlessly. She must stop the enemies of her empire or be stopped.
A number of Nigerian movie stars voiced characters from the movie and Malika is elegantly voiced by Adesua Etomi. The rest of the voices overs are by:
- Dogbari – Femi Branch
- Abdul – Blossom Chukwujekwu
- WindMaker/King Bass – Deyemi Okanlowon
- General Ras – Sambassa Nzeribe
Malika is a two-part book and more episodes are available to read on the YouNeek website. All events in the book as well as in the movie take place in the YouNeek universe known as YouNiverse. The universe is also the dwelling of other African superheroes including E.X.O, Fury and WindMaker.
Mystics and royal family feud which the story delves into is the ultimate African story in this true fantasy. Malika also features dragons and magical swords all set in 15th century West Africa. This is is a bit uncommon and exotic.
Malika will screen at the Lagos comic convention coming up on September 21 as well as at MECCAcon on the same day in Detroit, USA. There will be a panel discussion with Niyi Akinmolayan leading and some behind the scenes clips will be shown at the convention. YouNeek will announce more screening dates.
