How can a kid get out of such a place in life? ‘Nimbe’ is the kind of movie that is fearlessly admissible. It makes a clear statement about the use of drugs among youths today.

Why you should watch it: The story was born from Kunle Afolayan’s visit to a mechanic workshop in Lagos. he turned a small idea into artistic magic. ‘Mokalik‘ will take you on an emotional journey and make you shiver. The movie takes us through the life of an 11-year-old boy who has to decide to either be in the school or grow up as an apprentice in a mechanic workshop.

You are led through the life of a teenage girl (Victoria) and her dad who are just bereaved of their mom and wife. The young girl slowly grows out of her sorrow with the help of a neighbor (Muna). But there is something deeper about this neighbor than what she sees. ‘The Becoming of Obim’ ends up being a great source of stress relief.

‘4th Republic’

  • Cast: Kate Henshaw, Enyinna Nwigwe, Sani Muazu, Ihuoma Linda Ejiofor, Bimbo Manuel, Yakubu Mohammed

Why you should watch it: The creators of this movie are smart enough to place a female character in the winning position rather than making another stereotype of Nigerian women. The leading character (King) played by Kate Henshaw is a heroine who teaches women to stand up for themselves. Despite losing the gubernatorial election and being shot at, she stands up for what is right. The plot of ‘4th Republic is as good as it gets for Nigerian political movies.
