“Foreign Love” by Michael Oke

The Nollywood/Hollywood affair continues as the new movie “Foreign Love” by Michael Oke makes its debut soon. It is the first film by the Nigerian/American filmmaker. “Foreign Love” screened at the Culver City Film Festival on December 9 in Los Angeles. Culver City Film Festival in Los Angeles commenced on December 4 and ran until December 9.

The movie is self-funded by Micheal Oke, directed by Hollywood’s Eboni Adams and co-directed by Ben Chiadika. It portrays the strength, beauty, and intelligence of African women in many ways. It is also a typical racial tale, showcasing how two people from two opposites sides of life overcome obstacles to be together. “Foreign Love” is a romantic comedy which dissects the pressure that comes with interracial relationships. Two students of different background, Jason from the US and Funmi from Nigeria, goes from being competitors in class to being lovers. However, they struggle to get across cultural differences in their relationship.

Greg Taylor played the role of Jason and Funmi was portrayed by KC Ejelonu. Other actors in the movie include award-winning Nollywood actors Jide Kosoko, Tina Mba, Cwennen Corral, and Wole Ojo. The movie was filmed from locations around Lagos to the streets of Long Beach, California. The producers of “Foreign Love” wanted to showcase the beauty that Nigeria truly is.
