Funke Akindele began making movies in Nollywood her own way when she first created and developed the character Jenifa. By mixing her creativity and sense of humour, she has created a legendary Nollywood character.

Jenifa is a comic character who lives in a world where English is totally flawed. We were first introduced to the character, a wannabe uneducated girl, in the Nollywood movie of the same name. After seeing the movie “Jenifa”, we thought we have seen the last of her. But luckily she returned when “Jenifa’s Diary” began airing.
Jenifa has come to stay, and these are the things we just love about the character:
- The character is hilarious, adventurous and funny
- She never stops trying to learn English
- Despite her horrible English skills, she still keeps a diary
- Overcoming all her challenges, she is currently a rich hair stylist.
- She is focused
About Jenifa’s Diary
The series reflects the stages of the life of a young ambitious person and how it is possible to be successful even if society doesn’t think you can. She uses the series to tackle problems that youths are facing. There are over 50 episodes and it’s currently on its 1

Funke has stated that she doesn’t see the series coming to an end any time soon, even though she is tired of it. This is her way of sending her love to her fans in Nollywood and everywhere else.
