Many parents also, would often witness these talent displays without knowing how to help their kids.
Parents could take their time to think about a kid’s career path and offer to help. These are some of the most effective ways to help kids establish acting careers in Nollywood.
How To Get Kids Into Nollywood Now
Register them in branch of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN)
Contrary to what many think, people have to first register as AGN members to act in Nollywood including kids. It requires paying an enrollment amount and then a much smaller monthly renewal fee.
Help them settle in
Nollywood has several aspects that a kid can begin with including dancing. Rachel Okonkwo was simply another dancer in Nollywood in the early 2010s, but just one big role launched her today.
Help kids find opportunities to sing in public events too outside Nollywood. Take them to the theatre and music shows to expose them to the profession.
Encourage them to go to auditions and go with them. Children need some level of security in Nollywood even more than adult. Auditions grounds are sometimes too messy for kids and many would not be able to stand the hassle. Take kids to the audition grounds and stay with them for their safety.
Teach them professionalism as they are expected to behave just as professional as the adults as professionalism is not just adults’ thing. This will show that they are able to handle show business.
Commit time to help them rehearse and let them know they will be rejected sometimes and that it is ok.
Help them see their potentials, not force them. If acting is a child’s decision, help them nurture it and make sure the dream is really theirs, not yours. Make sure it is something they genuinely want to do.
Enrol them in acting classes. They need to improve their diction and grow certain skills to be able to express thoughts. These are some of the most very significant elements to a kid’s success in Nollywood and in acting in general.
