Make The Most Of The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) This Year

The ninth annual edition of the Africa International Film Festival, AFRIFF is currently on and will run until November 16. Over 30 films, from features and shorts to documentaries and animations, will screen during the festival at venues at Landmark Retail Boulevard and Landmark Towers VI Lagos. 

Films by Africans in the diaspora, as well as films by international filmmakers, are also screening during the 2019 AFRIFF and you can try to catch up with some of them. You also get to meet with some of these filmmakers from all over the world who will be present during screening their films.

Hilda Dokubo was present at the ninth edition of the AFRIFF to deliver masterclasses

A good number of student short films from countries around the world are also screening at the festival.

Throughout the week several panel discussions and masterclasses have taken place. Documentary masterclasses and directing masterclasses were facilitated by American Film Showcase and the American Embassy. They were held with Robert Hurst and Philip Noyce respectively during the festival. There was also an Acting masterclass with Aml Ameen.

Several panel discussions covering areas like access to financing will be held on day 5 of the festival. An interactive session for scoring in film, festival strategy development and much more are also being covered. Go make the most of the Africa International Film Festival this year. AFRIFF 2019 open with the award-winning ‘For Sama’ and closes with ‘The Ghost and the House of Truth’.
