African Filmmakers Gather In New York To Discuss Movies From Africa

The African film festival which holds annually in New York is showcasing a number of cutting edge movies from Africa. They include movies of all ages that are a reflection of the black continent. With 68 films set both in Africa, the US, and the Caribbean, the festival will demonstrate the magnanimity of the lives of Africans all over the world.

The festival which opened on May 23 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s BAMcinématek relocates to Film at Lincoln Center (FLC) on May 30 and closes at Maysles Cinema June 4.

    This edition takes the tagline ‘Beyond Borders: Storytelling Across Time’. African film helps us to celebrate African cultures. It allows us to also confront the issues that affect our societies according to AFF Executive Director and NYAFF Founder Mahen Bonetti. The lineup of movies from Africa can be viewed below:
