Nollywood Movies Filmocracy

Nollywood Movies Can Be Approved To Launch On Filmocracy

The new streaming platform, Filmocracy which took off in April gifts viewers some rewards for watching a movie. However, there is a prize – viewers have to rate the films they watch – then they get a virtual currency called popcorn in return. Filmocracy is free to use and popcorn points can be swapped for tickets and money. There over 2,000 independent films viewers can stream but so far no Nollywood movies are on Filmocracy,

Having made the service available worldwide with some titles like ‘Turned’, ‘Good Guys With Guns’, ‘Dating Daisy’, they similarly admit films worldwide. The US tech start-up had originally meant to serve the audience according to Paul Jun, CEO and Co-Founder. They also agreed to admit Nollywood movies from what one of its officials told Nollymania.

Filmocracy opens an opportunity for independent films which are widely unknown like a lot of Nollywood movies to be streamed. More so, the platform hopes to drive small independent and foreign films into distribution deals co-founder Kasia Kaczmarczyk pointed out.

How Can Nollywood Movies Get to Filmocracy?

For viewers to earn ‘popcorn’, they must register, watch and rate a film. The rating is based on five elements of filmmaking: plot, sound/music, dialogue, cinematography and performance.

Filmocracy is also promising its top monthly users some hundred to thousand US dollars in a program its calls ‘leaderboard’. The ranking system is refreshed monthly and the prizes must be retrieved before it ends.

Filmocracy established the gamified platform to give producers, critics and fans a new kind of film economy where they can all compete on different levels. Films that make it to the platform are screened and vetted by the executives before they premier. Filmocracy is like a continually running film festival where films can launch at any time.

The platform has a lot in common with other streaming services, but it has its differences as it means to forge a path for fresh content and faces in films. This is something that other streaming services may not be able to give.
