The African Magic Viewers’ Choice Award 2020 (AMVCA) which took place 14 March at Eko Hotels and Suites may have put attendees at risk of coronavirus.
In an earlier article, we also noted the risk of attending big film events in the wake of coronavirus in Nigeria.
Lagos State Commissioner for health, Professor Akin Abayomi is advising everyone who was in attendance to go into self- isolation. On Twitter, he also said that attendees could have been in exposed to the virus through a confirmed Lagos case.
A toll-free line was also made available for people to call if they get symptoms.
A number of attendees also came prepared against coronavirus and wore masks at the AMVCA 2020 awards night. The AMVCA 2020 night ended gracefully. However, there is some agitation now as actors in Nollywood begin to go into isolation.
The UK and the US especially ar cancelling big gatherings and dates for big events are changing including the Olympics. Upcoming oversea film festivals seem unlikely for Nollywood now.
