Many actors in Nollywood are known to actively participate in the fight against cancer. In Nov 2019, they organised ‘Jog for Life’ which was led by Foluke Daramola to create an awareness in Lagos.
For such a beautiful gesture towards humanity, we are grateful to Nollywood stars for speaking up against cancer. Some of them took up the task after losing a loved one or family member, while others among them are survivors.
Banky Wellington is one such survivor having beat melanoma (skin cancer) in 2017. He now uses every chance he gets to speak up.
A few Nigerians have also been appointed ambassadors against breasts cancer like Juliet Aguwa. She is a survivor of breast cancer which was already in stage three at the time of diagnosis.
There are a few more in Nollywood who aren’t as lucky and lost the fight to cancer.
- Iyabo Osadare
- Aisha Abimbola
Bisi Silva, a Nigerian author and sister to Nollywood actress Joke Silva also died of breast cancer in 2019.
Nollywood Movie ‘Last Days’ on Breast Cancer Awareness
Moses Olufemi recently lent his voice to the movement against cancer through a movie ‘Last Days‘.
