We didn’t expect much for African movies since the disqualifications of ‘Lionheart’ from 2020 Oscars. We were, however, hoping that Atlantic and Knuckle City would have earned nominations since they made the cut. That is not the case as the Oscar 2020 nominations have been announced.
‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, ‘1917’ and ‘The Irishman with 10 nominations each are among the top nominated on the Oscar Nominations 2020 list.
However, ‘Joker’ surpassed ‘The Irishman’ and came out with 11 nominations after the announcement of the Oscar 2020 Nominations.
‘Jojo Rabbit’ is at a medium spot with six nominations, along with ‘Marriage Story, ‘Little Women’ and ‘Parasite’.
Ford vs Ferrari scored four nominations. A number of 2019 favourite films ended up with one nomination including ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood and ‘The Lighthouse’.
‘Two Popes’, Bombshell earned three nominations each.
