Samuel Robinson Delivers Heartwarming Scenes in “Sudani from Nigeria”

“Sudani from Nigeria” is enriched with an aura that spells strength. The director has packed the movie with a universal sense of compassion, the kind that people often try to hide. The movie further translates strength through the story of a Nigerian footballer who finds himself in Kerala Malappuram.

In the district, locals have limited knowledge about Africans even though they come across them in the area. The story reminds us that everything we take for granted has a value. It is not much of a sports film as many would expect. It is a heart warming family drama that is humane, even if it also shows some cruel and cold sides of humans.

Majid, the manager of a football team, played by Soubin Shahir, encounters a Nigerian footballer Samuel. He sees this as a call for him to demonstrate his pomposity. However, the two gradually establish a bond and their chemistry tightens as they find friendship.

In a world that is broken with all the religious conflicts, inhumanity and hate, it is uplifting to see the compassion of Jamila, Majid’s mother. Not minding his religion as a christian, her action sure brings hope to humanity. It serves as a reminder that humans will always have kindness in their hearts amidst differences in religion and language barriers. “Sudani from Nigeria” is a highly recommendable movie and is available on Netflix.
