Women in film from around the world are suggesting inspiring films on Netflix for others to watch this International Women’s Day. The titles they selected were issued in the view of the International Women’s Days 2020 theme: “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”. Netflix made a collection with these submissions and titled it ‘Because She Watched’.
‘Because She Watched’ is a special compilation of TV series and films which stars women in important roles as well as those created by women.
The preview of the collection is narrated by Lana Condor and it includes films such as Nollywood’s ‘King of Boys’. Each film picked out by a woman has her name specified close to the title.
Some women including Kemi Adetiba and Ava Duverney selected their own directorial film, most of the women made different contributions.
‘Miss Americana’ is Millie Bobby Brown’s Women’s Day pick, ‘Marriage’ Story is Cecilia Suárez’s Women’s Day pick and so on.
More Women’s Day pick includes ‘Grace and Frankie’, ‘Anne With an E’, ‘Atlantique’, ‘Babies’ and more.
‘Because She Watched’ want to encourage women and girls this International Women’s Day to watch more films by women and for women.
