15 women are going to grace the British Vogue this September which will also be guest-edited by the Duchess of Sussex. The September edition with Meghan Markle is titled ‘Forces for Change’. There are four African women on the list that you should meet before September British vogue.
Adwoa Aboah
The British Ghanaian model who is currently on the list of top 50 female models by models.com and is notable for her work with Theory, Calvin Klein, Topshop, Fendi, DKNY, Alexander Wang, H&M, Aldo, Versus, among others. She has previously appeared on the cover of American Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue Poland, and i-D.
She is also a mental health campaigner and runs a self-owned organisation for young women called Gurls Talk.
Adut Akech
Adut is originally from South Sudan and is notable for campaigning for Fendi, Valentino, Versace, Moschino and Saint Laurent. Before growing up in Australia, she had lived the first seven years of her life in Kenya with her parents. At 16, she started her modelling career with Chadwick Models, in Sydney, Australia.
Ramla Ali
Ali began boxing as a teenager after moving to England from Somalia as a war refugee. Boxing for her was originally not meant as a career path but an effort to lose weight. Today she has won championships and other titles around the world. She is the first boxer in history to represent Somalia in the Women’s World Championships in New Delhi, India in 2018. Ali is an exclusive global Athlete for Nike. Aside from appearing in the British vogue this September, Ali uses her knowledge as an African refugee, to teaches Muslim women how to defend themselves.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
The Nigerian born novelist got her inspiration at age 10 and began winning prizes early in her life. Today she is notable not only as an award-winning novelist but also as a strong feminist.
Adichie is one of 228 new members at the 2017 induction into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
