Inclusion has never really been a problem in Nollywood despite having two big and different movie industries in Nigeria. The new Nigerian movie ‘Knockout’ is making a demonstrative statement about this. ‘Knockout’ is a comic thriller featuring a number of actors from at least three Nigerian tribes. Just like ‘Chief Daddy’ it is now on the list of all-star Nigerian movies.
We have been getting that a lot lately. Different tribes of Nigeria featuring in a movie and each leaving a little bit of Nigerian tradition on screen. This sort of plot will set off a spark that will lead to a new fight for unique stories in Nollywood.
‘Knockout’ was made available in cinemas across Ghana and Nigeria on March 19. The outcome of having an all-star cast in Nigerian movies is usually a flood of audience. That began with the trailer which had over 1.2 million views on the first few days after its release.
Everyone loves a good comedy, which is what we get from Wale Adenuga’s first Nollywood movie ‘Knockout’. And when Nigerians see a mix of performances from different tribes there is even more fun to it. We are pumped by this new and unique idea.
