No one ever thinks about going to Youtube to find award-winning Nigerian movies to download or watch for free. Most films on Youtube are already too old, which is not so exciting.

There are a number of award-winning Nigerian movies legally available on Youtube now for free download.

This selection of award-winning Nigerian movies on Youtube can neither be found on Netflix, Demand Africa or IROKOTV. They are all available on ObiEmelonyeTV, who is also the creator of all three movies.

It is best to take advantage while they’re still there. This list will make it easier to search through the multitude of old Nigerian films on youtube.

‘Last Flight to Abuja’

The movie portrays the series of disaster that took place in Nigerian aviation in the mid-2000s. ‘Last Flight to Abuja’ stars Hakeem Kae-Kazim and was nominated in five awards categories at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2013.

It won in one category, the Best Film by an African based abroad. ‘Last Flight to Abuja’ was deeply impactful at its initial release and still is now.

‘Mirror Boy’

Obi Emelonye explores the need to need about the African root in Mirror Boy. It stars Genevieve Nnaji and Osita Iheme (Paw Paw). ‘Mirror Boy’ is a mystery Nollywood film shot in England and the Gambia and is available to stream for free and download.

The film earned three AMAA nominations and one win which went to Edward Kagutuzi for Best Young Actor. In addition to that, ‘Mirror Boy’ earned one Nigerian Entertainment Awards nomination in New York 2011.

‘Onye Ozi’ (The Messenger)

In this 2014 movie, the lead character played by Okey Bakassi witnessing a murder that will change his entire trip to the UK. ‘Onye Ozi’ is available for download and streaming on YouTube.

The creators of these movies, Obi Emelonye promises to make more of his award-winning films available. Expect a new upload every Friday until the next two years.

Oga Bolaji

Directed by Kasum Kayode ‘Oga Bolaji’ is articulately epic in its story about a retired a musician. The film has screened at over five international films festival including Cardiff since its release in 2018. It has also won a number of film festival awards.
