Nigerian film production and distribution company FilmOne has entered into a contract with Disney to market the American giant’s new films in English-speaking West Africa.

The deal opened this month with ‘Mulan’ the conglomerate’s latest release. Mulan is still in the cinemas in Nigeria and it grossed over N1.4 million in its first weekend. This is the highest record so far in all news releases after the reopening of cinemas given to the coronavirus situation in Nigeria.

FilmOne To Market Disney Films

Before now, Disney Films like Captian Marvel, Dumbo, Avengers: Endgame, Glass and more had been released under other distribution channels. Over the years, they have been great performers in the Nigerian cinemas’ records on the CEAN shows.

Films like ‘Mulan’ will now be singularly distributed to cinemas in Nigeria, Ghana, and Liberia by FilmOne. The deal also includes titles from all divisions of Disney Studios including Pixar, Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel Studios.

FilmOne Entertainment has over 10 cinema houses across Nigeria and is therefore driving growth in cinema culture in the country.

The studio has established a reputable record in theatrical releases and has a vast knowledge of the region as Disney Africa’s country manager, Christine Service noted. This makes it the right one to partner with.

FilmOne is the producer and distributor of some highest-grossing films like ‘The Wedding Party,’ and ‘Merry Men 1& 2’. A number of films by the production company are available to stream on Netflix. FilmOne will distribute the upcoming Marvel film Black Widow set for release on October 28, 2020.
