For many, one key element of living is finding a role model to always look up to. Having a role model has helped many people find themselves in life. We choose who we look up to for many different reasons. Most of all we chose role models because their stories and history inflame us like the African model, Maria Borges.
Angolan model, Maria Borges grew up like most African girls and has a humble background. Her humility strikes us like a musical chord. She is not just a beautiful African model, she is a beautiful soul and one to emulate for the recognition she gives back to her African root.
The style and personality that drips from her in these African outfits inspired us to share these photos of her. Her sense of Africanism is fabulous and we like being motivated by her story.
What we want more is to emulate her authenticity and the beauty that flows out of her from within. In 2015, Maria Borges became the first black model to appear on Victoria’s Secret show with her short hair. Maria Borges loves being black and her charisma is gracious.
She was named top model for Forbes African Magazine in 2013. She has appeared on the front page of several international magazines including American version of ELLE.
This made her the second woman after Alek Wek to ever appear on the cover page. She is currently a face for L’Oreal and an ambassador for a number of big cosmetic and makeup companies. We hope she will inspire you as much as she did us.
While we hope to see her as Victoria’s Secret Angel one day, we are glad to say she is an African angel.
