The Creative Industry in Nigeria to Get Funds From Government

The government have long been expected to provide funds and assist in making the creative industry in Nigeria a powerhouse of financial growth. It is disastrous to underestimate the rewards the entire country will enjoy from a boost from the government. Successful promotion of the creative industries will accelerate financially independent population in Nigeria.

The industry which collects people together from designers to artists has since been creating employment for thousands of Nigerians. They have worked so hard to contribute to cultural identity and social harmony.

The Federal government is looking to provide funds of about N50 billion for the creative industry in Nigeria. This is to enable it to effectively execute its role in the development of the nation.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture who was at the 2019 AFRIMA Awards made the information known to the audience and press present. He said that the government recognises the work that was put into making the industry. Therefore, the government is resolved to prioritising the commercialisation of the creative industry.

Commercialising the creative industry will increase a stable financial livelihood of creatives in the country. Also, it will increase the demand for local creative productions. Apparently, an assessment of the county’s dependence on oil and an increased crime rate have stirred the government to heed to mediations

It is not difficult to ascertain the contribution and the potentials of the creative industry. So, if properly assessed this should have been a long time ago.
