We have had a number of culturally themed Nigerian movies over the years. However, not many have been themed on the Igala people. All eyes seem to have been on Mercy Johnson Okojie who is one of the most popular Igala people in Nollywood after Joseph Benjamin. Waiting time has elapsed as Mercy Johnson drops both the teaser and trailer of self-produced Igala themed movie ‘The Legend of Inikpi’.
The teaser and trailer will make you crave for what’s embedded in this epic Nigerian movies.
‘The Legend of Inikpi’ features a good number of enjoyable Nollywood cast. Among them are Sam Dede, Odunlade Adekola, Saidi Balogun, Paul Obazele and Mercy Johnson as Queen and mother to the King’s most beloved daughter Inikpi. She is devoted to keeping her child ‘Inikpi Oma Ufedo Baba’ safe. The entire story is a chronicle of the life of this revered Igala princess. She would give her life to free her people.
Movie Sets
Igala Kingdoms in Central Nigeria during the ancient eras, home of the King Attah (Sam Dede) and Queen Omele (Mercy Johnson).
Bini Kingdom, land of the free and home to the peaceful. It is the dwelling of Oba Esegie (Paul Obazele). They will go to war if need be.
It is a delight for us to have to share an original story and almost unseen customs of Igala people.
Mercy Johnson is the producer of The Legend of Inikpi’ is, and Frank Rajah Arase is the director. The movie will open in cinemas around Nigeria and Ghana on the 24th of January, 2020.
