Cinemas in Nigeria are drawing larger audiences in the festivities than any other time. However, it seems that the release of “The Ghost and the Tout” in May 2018 drew a new scale of audience. The number of visitors at this time increased significantly. You usually don’t see that many people in the cinemas in the middle of the year. But Toyin Abraham’s “The Ghost and the Tout” acquired a lot of fans. The movie is a joint venture, produced by Toyin Abraham and Samuel Olatunji. It made its cinema debut on May 11.

In the first few weeks after its release “The Ghost and the Tout” grossed over N30m. The record is unequaled by any other movie in 2018 so far. By the end of 2018, “The Ghost and the Tout” may still remain the highest grossing film of the year. We will like to take a closer look at one of the two producers behind the successful movie – Toyin Abraham.

How did Toyin Abraham do it?

Having begun acting in 2003, she gradually became a household name. From playing in Yoruba movies, she moved mainstream to play roles in Nollywood movies. The actress has been nominated several times in different award categories.

“The Ghost and the Tout” has given her yet another break in Nollywood. Toyin Abraham created a lot of awareness for the movie from its release. What better ways are there to acquire an audience? Her hard work seems to have paid off as the movie had recorded 57 million Naira in sales last June.

The 34-year-old seems to be doing fine in the industry amidst all the divorce drama that is on air. Last year she opened up about her use of hard drugs and stated that it is all in the past now. She features in an upcoming movie called “Nimbe: The Movie” set to be released in 2019. Some other movies she appeared in 2018 include:
