What Kinds Of Brands Use Nollywood Movies To Promote Products?

Promote Nollywood Movies

Promote Nollywood Movies

Most Nollywood movies are ad-free but sometimes there are many products displayed them. This means that film productions aren’t really getting paid to promote products that end up in Nollywood movies.

Other times, when you see a product in Nollywood movies they are quite elaborate and in the big-budget ones. However, you also notice that sometimes when a brand is advertising its product, it can be hard to recognise that its an advert. This sometimes depends on how the brand wants to promote its product like in some of the Nollywood movies FilmOne recently mentioned.

‘Google’ in ‘New Money’

Though FilmOne says Google is specifically placed for ad purposes, Heineken was the product you see though out the film. It was not until the end you see Quam (Falz) mention Google. It was displayed when he searched for himself on the internet and sees like a really small brand placement. So we imagine it must have paid very little compared to other Google brand placements we have seen like in ‘The Internship’.

Falz made a pun with his name in ‘New Money’ which wasn’t too bad
‘Diageo’ in ‘The Wedding Party’

In order to find Diageo in ‘The Wedding Party’, 1&2, we had to look very hard and you should too. ‘The Wedding Party’ 1&2 is available on Netflix.

Glo in ‘A Trip to Jamaica’

This is probably one of those traditional product placements which allow brands to supply their product to film production. The products are sometimes invisible in this case. In some cases they don’t even mention them, they just put up the product banner somehow like in ‘A Trip to Jamaica’.

Mobile network service used this movie to promote their product
Eco Bank in ‘The Bling Lagosians’

Eco Bank wasn’t exactly scattered all over the movie. We only sort of know that there was a placement after FilmOne shared it.
