Netflix to make a movie on the fraudulent life of Hushpuppi.
It is not uncommon to get inspiration from the most malignant event as that of “Hushpuppi”.
The fraudulent lifestyle and conventions of Ramon Abbas” Hushpuppi” have inspired many things and many people.
However, the inspiration Hushpuppi gave seemed dubious even to many fans of the Nigerian influencer.
The apparent wealth in all things deluxe and flaunting of designer brands was arguably unmerited. The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI had the same impressions as most people did, steering his arrest.
His Instagram profile describes him as a real estate dealer, his posts paints him as motivational and his snaps dismiss the first two cases and clearly screams fraud (as most people say).
Hushpuppi acquired millions of dollars through business impersonation.
His fraud network has brought awareness to the reign of business email compromise (BEC) scams globally.
Netflix is establishing a con man movie approach similar to the likes of “The Wolf of Wall Street” for the Hushpuppi movie.
It will be made by Will Packer productions and EbonyLife Media and based on a Bloomberg feature, “The Fall of the Billionaire Gucci Master” by Evan Ratliff.
Universal Pictures will also partner in the production of the movie.
About upcoming Hushpuppi movie
The premise of Ratliff’s feature is on a boy who was overcome by life in his home country, Nigeria. He went on to become a fraud kingpin and controlled an empire until his arrest by the FBI.
Social media influence along with internet scams are probable themes for the upcoming Hushpuppi movie.
More so, the movie will inauspiciously direct its tales at the inspiration that comes from social media and its influencers.
Nigerian movies are bringing the country international recognition in the light of the worst tales. The new movie about Hushpuppi is not, unfortunately, disconcerting for Nigeria,
However, Nollywood and the country have continued to mitigate negative narratives in the best ways possible.
