Netflix has taken back its confirmation of the season 2 ‘Queen Sono’ without many details as to why.
The director and creator Kagiso Lediga did suggest in a statement that the pandemic was to blame. Also, according to Deadline, filming locations posed a challenge to the film crew during the pandemic.

A spokesperson for Netflix had sent out a calming and appreciating message about the cancellation of ‘Queen Sono’ 2. It establishes that Netflix will continue to work closely with South Africa’s creative industry to keep producing more compelling ‘Made-in-South Africa’ stories.”
Queen Sono Season 2
The first season and only of ‘Queen Sono’ was just creating some depth which the season 2 would have filled. The cliffhangers founded around the past of the female lead character are a major pull for a second season.
However, ‘Queen Sono’ will now remain an incomplete account of an African spy, split between her personal life and job.
Being the first African original series, Netflix team on the continent including Dorothy Ghettuba and Ben Amadasun are also expected to comment on the cancellation of ‘Queen Sono’.
