Preparing for the Production of “Caged in the Creeks”

In one of our previous articles, we wrote about Terry McMahon’s visit to Nigeria for the production of the movie “Caged in the Creeks”. He seems to be doing well so far in Nigeria. Since his arrival, he has expressed in so many ways how happy he is to be a part of a Nollywood film project. Speaking with journalists in Lagos recently, the movie director again made this known. He said that he is excited to be taking part in the movie, as well as helping Nollywood rewrite Nigeria‘s story.

McMahon is an experienced director, having a number of Irish movies on his list. He has also starred in several Hollywood movies. So McMahon has what it takes to bring quality into making “Caged in the Creeks”.

The movie is written by Leke Akinrowo, of Riveting Integrated Entertainment Ltd. He is going to insert some personal experiences into the movie. Some of these experiences were gathered while he was living and working in the Niger Delta region. Akinrowo and the rest of the production team are hoping that this would change the negative ways that Nigerians are viewed outside the country.

Discussions between the producers and Nigerian actors and actresses regarding the project are ongoing. The production crew has begun surveys throughout the country, as well as outside the country for possible shooting locations.

Aside from working on the project, Terry McMahon seems to also be enjoying his stay in Nigeria. He has shared photos of him at the home of Fela Kuti on social media. He also mentioned that he sat in on an intimate rehearsal with Dede Mabiaku – a longtime member of Fela Kuti’s band.
