Nollywood actress Funke Akindele was spotted at the courthouse during a recession Monday afternoon. The actress and her husband Abdulrasheed Bello (JJC Skillz) were arraigned for contravening the stay at home order in Lagos state were seen burying their faces in remorse.
Funke Akindele was arrested at her home on Sunday by the Lagos State Police Command. The actress had earlier shared photos of a house party at the said location with singer and Nollywood colleagues present. This breaks the isolation orders and led to her arrest.
JJC Skillz, the husband of the actress later showed up after a manhunt was declared for him. They were both taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba.
Comments have been flying around on social media. Followers are pointing out that she is a brand ambassador for Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
The NCDC and Dettol had appointed Funke Akindele to present a coronavirus cautionary video. She discussions issues relating to coronavirus and how to stay safe in the video.
On Sunday, the NCDC dismissed the comment and said that “NCDC has not engaged brand ambassadors as part of our response to COVID-19”.
Dettol Nigeria particularly mentions that Nollywood actress “Funke Akindele is not a brand ambassador of the NCDC”.
Funke Akindele and JJC Skillz have been ordered by the court to either pay a fine of 100 000 Naira or spend a month in a correctional facility.
