Ways to get kids into Nollywood and turn them into successful child actors

Child Actors in Nollywood

Child Actors in Nollywood

Many kids in Nigeria have a great desire to become child actors in Nollywood but do not get the encouragement they need. While some will struggle to approach their parents with the idea, an actor like Regina Daniels had the guidance of her mother all the way.

Williams Uchemba is one of the child actors who became successful in Nollywood with a little guidance

The actress became successful just like Williams and Uchemba, with a little guidance. They have both officially signed off as a child actor and began playing grown-up roles including the most recent one on ‘Merry Men 2’. Nollywood needs to raise new child actors soon.

How to make child actors in Nollywood successful

Now is the most appropriate to introduce a child into Nollywood. It is going to be advantageous to a child to begin early and to understand the business. The guidance also needs to pass the imperatives of the business down to the kids and here’s how.

Rules of acting apply

Just like adults have rules to make it in Nollywood, kids do too and they are basically the same. The industry is competitive and many teenagers who drop out would wish they know the rules.

Guide the Child

It is already difficult for an adult to navigate Nollywood, so there is no way it is going to be easy for a child. The job of a guardian is to provide them with a precise acting perspective and of being in Nollywood. Lay down the expectations and realities of the business to them.

Help them practice

Talent is not all it takes to act in Nollywood. Even with an enormous amount of talent, a child needs practice for at least two years. The best way is to participate in school dramas regularly.

Get them into acting classes

Acting in front of a camera is a whole new experience from acting on a school drama stage. Acting classes will teach a kid the necessary skills that can help them interpret roles before a camera.

Without proper guidance, many kids will lose their chances to ever get a good run in Nollywood.
