On its new course with African content and scoring new film partnerships, Netflix has flagged off a deal with Mo Abudu. The deal will see EbonyLife, a production studio run by Mo Abudu making several films for Netflix.
The adaptations ‘The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives’ by Lola Shoneyin into a television series and ‘King’s Horseman’ by Wole Soyinka into a movie are among them. Later this year, one of them will be available on Netflix.
Netflix has mostly just licensed EbonyLife films to play on its platform. But this deal will see both teams partnering in film production.
EbonyLife is also in another deal with AMC Network where they agreed to make a futuristic, sci-fi film, ‘Nigeria 2099’.
A Netflix deal with John Boyega’s UpperRoom Productions will see them partner on two Nigerian feature and one Egypt film.
