Long time Nollywood production house O.J opens the easter season with ‘Our Jesus Story’, a directorial piece of Tchidi Chikere. Thursday, March 19, ‘Our Jesus Story’ premiers in Nigeria.
A biblical story from Nollywood could offer great pleasure. But that will be tied to the budget, the director, the cast and the location. A Jesus story is a universal topic and hopefully will attract the attention that Nollywood seeks.
‘Our Jesus Story’ Movie
It will be more rewarding for Nollywood if ‘Our Jesus Story’ is appealing but could do more damage if the producers have made a bad movie. While waiting for a reply from the producers of ‘Our Jesus Story’, let’s get to know more about the project before then.
Location: All clips available show spectacular images of places that have been carefully chosen. They look like the days of Jesus Christ on earth.
Costume: They went for the epic costumes which totally blends with the location and era. Though there are some exemptions.
Story: While the story has been twisted a bit to suit this era and the present day churches we see, most of the biblical lines are the same.
Cast – The cast list of ‘Our Jesus Story’ does contain names that are very relevant in Nollywood. However, these known faces have become tied to some particular roles in Nollywood movies.
When we watch them in new roles, it is difficult not to picture them in the old roles that we know them in. Nollywood has a hard time introducing new faces in movies. So, the cast of ‘Our Jesus Story’ might look less exciting in our guess.
So far, the merits outweigh the bad for ‘Our Jesus Story’ which will be out for public viewing March 27.
