AMVCA 2020

AMVCA 2020 Best Dressed, Mercy Eke Wore Princess Dress – Conflicting

The AMVCA 2020 announced earlier that they will award the best-dressed male and female of the night. No one really thought it was going to be a male and female dressed a princess dress or even in English suit and blazer.

It’s a shame that the award events in Africa boast of having cultural influence, when in fact they don’t. There was nothing African about “Africa” Magic Movie Award, watching from here.

Best Dressed of the AMVCA 2020

The Best-dressed female for the AMVCA 2020 night, Mercy Eke wore a princess dress. The Best-dressed Male Mike Edwards wore an English blazer.

While some might say that he is coming from Jamaica, we argue he is at an African award show and shouldn’t win an award for wearing an English blazer. Wearing native African clothes or fabrics to award shows sound like an abomination to Africans.

AMVCA 2020
What we see is people who have no idea what to do with their own fashion and fabric

Africa needs big and loud events like the AMVCA, AFRIMMA, AFRIMA, AMAA to announce what really theirs. But they seem to hate their own culture, fabrics and cloths.

African movie awards show now translate to western fashion shows. This is the kind of a thing you see from people who do not know how to make their own traditional apparel look good. They take pride in a western fashion more than with theirs.

While being the biggest award show in Africa, we are hoping they use the opportunity to give Africa and what’s in Africa some credit. The world can never understand Africa or why they do the things they do because they prefer to practise a lot of things they borrow.

No one will know what really belongs to you if you don’t show it. We can’t go on hating what’s African, we should be proud of it. If the AMVCA isn’t proud of Africa then we are not proud of the AMVCA.
